The West Virginia Dancin' Outlaws got a strong performance from pitcher Jason Hammond, who stymied the Springfield offense en route to a 3-2 win at Penlee Park. Bernardino Pacheco earned the save, his 6th. West Virginia, at 40-28, sits in first place in the August Herrman League Phillie Phanatic Division.
Also pitching in was West Virginia right fielder Shelby Park, who hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, Park went 1 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
After the game, West Virginia manager Andy Franklin applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
