|
Whitewater turned a good effort from starter Douggie Pitchford into a win over the Bethesda Hornets at The Aerie. The final score was 4-0. Pitchford, the winner, moves to 4-3. He threw 6 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 2 walks. Whitewater, at 31-33, sits in 4th place in the August Herrman League Phillie Phanatic Division.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the seventh inning, but Ah-cy Jian didn't flinch. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and Bethesda trailing 1-0, Jian retired Jonathan Greenhill to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Jian, with a wink.
