Kogawa goes 3-for-4 as Eagles Squeeze Past Stroudsburg
|
The Whitewater Eagles beat the Stroudsburg Shade, 6-5, at The Aerie. The Eagles got a fine performance from center fielder Rintaro Kogawa, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Whitewater reliever Julián Castillo picked up the win, upping his record to 5-0. Shigenobu Yamasaki took the loss. Whitewater goes to 23-30, Stroudsburg to 19-34.
Kogawa contributed a big hit, a 2-run single, for Whitewater in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 4-3, Kogawa took a fastball from David Tredgett and stroked the single to right. His 41st hit of the season allowed the Eagles to leap in front, 5-4.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Kogawa.
