Bums Come Up Short at Bethesda
|
The Hornets faced a stiff challenge from Palm Beach pitcher Jim Unknown, but persevered to claim a win at Hornets Field. The final score was 3-2. Unknown went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Bethesda reliever Alfredo Valle was credited with the win, to go to 3-0. Iván Valenzuela took the loss for Palm Beach. The save was credited to Jeff Hodge, his 1st.
Bethesda took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Isao Tanaka hit a clutch 2-run home run to bring Hornets fans to their feet.
"Let's just say I'm happy we won," said Tanaka. "There are a lot of people in the clubhouse who like to whine too much when we lose."
Bethesda has a 3-game win streak, while Palm Beach has lost 7 in a row.
