Sting Get Win, Extend Streak to 9
|
Starting pitcher Sigfrid Arnim pitched well enough to help the Houston Sting beat the Sioux City Knights by the score of 6-5. Arnim, now 5-2, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing 2 earned runs. The 5th-place Sting now have a 9-game winning streak.
The Sting beat the Knights in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out home run Declan Ringer produced in the bottom of the fifth. Batting against Sioux City pitcher Joe Wamboldt, Ringer gave his team a 5-2 lead when he hit a 3-run home run.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Ringer.
