Road Warriors Come Up Short at Austin
|
The Austin Hipsters did just enough to sneak past the Westside Road Warriors, 6-5, at Hipster Grounds. Austin right fielder Adam Chambers earned player of the game honors. Chi-Cuong Thuan was the winning pitcher. Over 5.2 innings, he allowed 5 runs on 9 hits, with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. Austin is 18-16 and Westside, with the loss, 29-5.
Austin second baseman Ogai Sakei helped the Hipsters to the win. In the bottom of the fourth inning, the 21-year old second baseman stroked a run-scoring single. For the game, Sakei went 2-3 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Sakei, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
