Hornets Beat Shade, 4-3

The Bethesda Hornets eked out a 4-3 win versus the Stroudsburg Shade at Hornets Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Francisco López, who captured player of the game honors. Bethesda reliever Francisco López was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Lenny Tickell took the loss for Stroudsburg. Baden Thwaites closed it out for his 6th save.
Trailing 1-0, Bethesda hopes soared in the bottom of the second inning when the 21-year old catcher Matthew Purglove lifted a first pitch fastball into the stands for a 2-run home run. The round-tripper put the Hornets up, 2-1.
"Winning is not something we take for granted," Purglove said.
The Shade fall to 14-18 and continue their wobbly start to the 2028 season.
