Seals Cut Down Hornets, 3-1
|
The bats were silent much of the day at Silvery Lane Field. But Héctor Garza conjured up just enough offense to carry the Seals past the Bethesda Hornets, 3-1. Garza was 2-2 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Beach City, now 11-18, is off to a slow start.
Garza contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Beach City in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 1-0, Garza took a cutter from Nariaki Hamada and stroked the home run to right. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Seals to leap in front, 2-1.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Garza.
