Springfield beat West Virginia, 4-3. The win in part was due to first baseman Jiao-long Siew, who nabbed player of the game honors. He went 2-2 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI. Springfield reliever Razan Suzuki picked up the win to move to 1-0. Kisho Samurakami suffered the loss. Takashi Toru earned his 9th save in 12 tries.

Henry Huff was vital part of the Springfield win. He was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs. In the bottom of the fifth with no one out, Huff hit a solo home run. It made the score 4-3, in favor of the Capitals.

"We played a good game and came out on top," said Huff.

Springfield, at 23-7, has sizzled in the early going.
