Capitals Win Again, Streak Now at 11
|
Austin had no answer for Springfield Capitals starter Jeff Campbell, who flummoxed Hipsters hitters as the Capitals cruised to a 7-1 victory. Campbell went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 8. His record improves to 5-1. The Capitals, now 21-4, have had a terrific start to the season.
The Springfield triumph was a team effort. Not least among the contributors was Takehide Sasaki. In the top of the fourth, the Springfield first baseman hit a 2-run double. It staked his team to a 2-0 lead.
"The wins are coming in bunches right now," said Sasaki. "We'll enjoy it while it lasts."
