The Sioux City Knights topped the Austin Hipsters, 9-2, with youngster Su-wu Jiao playing a key role. Jiao was 2-4 with a home run. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2 for the Knights in the win. Jim Unknown got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 3 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 2. With the win, Sioux City is 11-12.
Bill Riel brought the hometown crowd to its feet with two out in the bottom of the first. That's when the 19-year old first baseman belted a 2-run home run. With the round-tripper, the Knights took the lead, 2-0.
In comments to the Sioux City Today, Jiao admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
