Springfield Capitals starter Qing-lai Cong turned in a sterling performance against the Bel Air Princes, leading his team to a slim 3-2 win. The win was credited to José Ayala in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Bryan Roland took the loss. Takashi Toru earned his 8th save in 10 tries.
Takehide Sasaki contributed a productive at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With a runner on 1st, he hit a single. It was one at-bat that helped Springfield get the win.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Sasaki told the Springfield Today.
The Capitals, now 19-4, have stormed out of the gates.
