Road Warriors Reel Off Another Win
|
Westside catcher Éric Simon was a significant contributor in his team's 7-3 triumph over the Houston Sting. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for Westside. Bernardo Guerra was the winning pitcher. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 8 strikeouts. Nicholas Winslow got the save, the 2nd for him this season.
Tied up with the Sting in the top of the fifth, the Road Warriors got a boost from third baseman Kenko Hori. With the bases empty, Hori saw a first pitch forkball from Sigfrid Arnim and hit a solo home run to break the stalemate and put Westside on top, 4-3.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Simon, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
Westside, at 18-2, has sizzled in the early going.
