The Beach City Seals downed the Stroudsburg Shade, 10-6, at Silvery Lane Field. Matthew Jesty led the way, going 3-for-5 for Beach City. Katsunan Suzuki earned the save, his 5th, for the Seals. Beach City, now 7-11, is off to a slow start.

A key at-bat in the game came in the bottom of the first inning when the Seals sent teenager Travis Thiery to the plate against Shade hurler Pablo Bautista. With runners on 1st and 2nd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a home run off a 1-1 fastball to score 3.

"The most important thing is that we won," Thiery said.
