In a low-scoring tilt between the Springfield Capitals and the Houston Sting, Qing-lai Cong was the difference-maker. The Springfield right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 2-1 win. Springfield reliever Hollis Thomas was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Juan Lucero took the loss. Takashi Toru locked down his 3rd save.

Runs were hard to come by in this one. Qing-lai Thien's at-bat with no one out in the top of the eighth, therefore, was critical. The Springfield designated hitter hit a run-scoring single, to put his team on top, 2-1.

"We came out with the short end of the stick," said Houston skipper Robby Tate.

The Sting fall to 4-8 and continue to sputter in the early going.
