Hot Start Continues for Hipsters
|
The Austin Hipsters topped the Stroudsburg Shade, 8-6, with youngster Evan Whitlock playing a key role. Whitlock was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 for the Hipsters in the win. Austin reliever Nobuharu Fujita picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Pablo Bautista took the loss. The Hipsters, now 5-1, have been playing some good baseball.
Whitlock came through with some timely hitting for Austin. With the score 3-1 in the bottom of the second and one down, Whitlock hit a 2-2 changeup for a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season made it 5-1, Austin.
"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Whitlock, "but we got it done."
