Predators Pull Back to .500 With Win Over Cornhuskers
|
The Topeka Predators got a magnificent performance from pitcher Dave Smith, who muffled the DeKalb offense en route to a tight 2-1 Predators win at The Field at Richmond. Smith picked up the win for Topeka, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 8-14. Jim Unknown, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
In the bottom of the third, Topeka left fielder Marcos Ortíz had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 2nd and one out, Ortíz stroked a run-scoring single to right-center. It made the score 2-1, Topeka. For the game, he went 2 for 4 with a double.
"We came out with the short end of the stick," said DeKalb skipper Shusaku Fukuda.
Topeka is now riding a 3-game win streak.
