Ducks Fall to .500 After Loss to Beehive
|
Bill Merritt had a good game, but he could not keep the Long Island Ducks from falling, 6-4, to the Madison Beehive at Long Island Stadium. The Long Island third baseman went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once in the loss. Tom Wilson earned the save for Madison, his 21st of the year. Madison goes to 53-61, Long Island to 56-56.
Also pitching for Madison was third baseman Ryu Watanabe, who hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth. For the game, Watanabe was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
In postgame comments to the Madison Gazette, Watanabe said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
