Spartans Suffer 7-5 Setback

The DeKalb Cornhuskers and Sandy Springs Spartans completed their game despite the inclement weather.
Sandy Springs got a terrific game from center fielder Mike Carlson. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to DeKalb, 7-5. Carlson was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 2-3 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. The Cornhuskers now have a record of 44-66 with the win over Sandy Springs.
Doing his part for DeKalb was shortstop Marcos Ayala, who stroked a 2-run single in the top of the fifth. For the game, Ayala was 1-4. He drove in 2 runs.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said DeKalb Cornhuskers manager Shusaku Fukuda. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
