Boise pitcher Peter McColgan did his part in helping his team beat the Spokane Bulldogs, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Hou-kang Li earned his 24th save in 26 tries. With the win, Boise has a record of 39-71. Spokane falls to 60-51.
Mexico-born Carlos López came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st and the Hawks trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run home run to left to put Boise on top.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said McColgan.
