Victory Pushes Bulldogs Record to 59-50
|
The Spokane Bulldogs topped the Boise Hawks, 7-3, with youngster Mitsuharu Kishita playing a key role. Kishita went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Bulldogs in the win. Leonilde Maio, the winner, improved to 7-7. He held Boise to 3 runs on 3 hits over 5 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts. The last-place Hawks have lost 4 straight games.
Kishita contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Spokane in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 3-1, Kishita took a fastball from José Díaz and stroked the home run to left-center. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Bulldogs to leap in front, 4-3.
"If it's down the middle," said Kishita, "you might as well hit it."
