Storm Troopers Take Down Hawks, 5-3
|
Behind a solid performance from first baseman Jon Massey, the San Antonio Storm Troopers defeated the Boise Hawks, 5-3. Massey went 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Storm Troopers. Armando Medina closed the door for San Antonio, picking up his 25th save of the year. The first-place Storm Troopers now have a 4-game winning streak.
Massey contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for San Antonio in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Massey took a cutter from Eddie MacClung and stroked the home run to left. His 18th home run of the season allowed the Storm Troopers to leap in front, 2-1.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said San Antonio manager Ernie Goslin.
