Rats Stymie Phoenix, Take 3-1 Win
|
In a well-pitched game between the Rock River Rats and the Phoenix Lights, pitcher Adam Pitkeathy was superb. The Rock River right-hander was named the player of the game in Rock River's 3-1 win. Szeto Chieu got credit for the win, improving to 8-2. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. The Rats own a robust 69-38 mark.
Had Harley Ware not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Ware hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Rats.
"Good pitching stops good hitting," said Pitkeathy. "And vice-versa."
