Riding the 3-hit performance of the 22-year old catcher Domingo Cruz, the Wichita Wolverines stopped the Long Island Ducks, 8-0. Wichita starter Shigeki Sasaki was credited with the win after throwing 96 pitches over 5.2 innings. His record now stands at 6-7. Wichita now owns a record of 47-50.

Cruz had an important at-bat with runners on 1st and 2nd in the top of the fourth, when he hit a run-scoring double. The Wolverines went on to win.
