Lights Win, Nii goes 3-for-5
|
The Phoenix Lights downed the Sandy Springs Spartans, 8-3, at UFO Field. Senichi Nii led the way, going 3-for-5 for Phoenix. José Castro, the winner, improved to 6-3. He held Sandy Springs to 3 runs on 5 hits over 5.2 innings, while racking up 8 strikeouts. Robert Limby recorded the save for Phoenix, his 9th of the season.
Nii put Phoenix up, 6-1, when he hit a grand slam home run off Roger Rogers in the bottom of the second. His 4th home run of the season helped the Lights capture the win.
"Some wins are easy, some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Nii told the Phoenix Gazette.
The Lights have now won 4 straight.
