Hawks Fall to Beehive, 12-3
|
The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements at The Hive enjoyed themselves.
Madison center fielder Tomokazu Hara played a vital role in his team's 12-3 triumph over Boise. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for Madison. Kagetoki Ohayashi Jr., the winner, improved to 3-0. He held Boise to 3 runs on 3 hits over 5.1 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts. Kyuso Sasaki closed the door for Madison, picking up his 1st save of the year.
Hara contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Madison in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Hara took a fastball from Peter McColgan and stroked the home run to left-center. His 10th home run of the season allowed the Beehive to leap in front, 3-1.
"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Hara told the Madison Gazette. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
The win puts the Beehive at 42-45, while the Hawks drop to 33-54.
