Wolverines Pull Back to .500 With Win Over Storm Troopers
|
The Wichita Wolverines handed the San Antonio Storm Troopers a sound defeat, 11-2, at Howling Park. Justin Seymour was a main contributor to the win. He went 4-6 with a triple and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for Wichita. Beau Miller picked up the win with 6.1 innings of work. He allowed no earned runs on 3 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 1-2. The Wolverines move to 61-61 with the win, while the Storm Troopers drop to 69-54.
A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the first inning when the Wolverines sent teenager Matsu Yamada to the plate against Storm Troopers hurler Noritoshi Hayashi. With the bases loaded and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a 2-0 fastball to score 1.
"The Wolverines definitely had our number," said San Antonio manager Ernie Goslin.
