The Long Island Ducks picked up a win at The Rat Hole, knocking off the Rock River Rats, 6-5. Starting pitcher Austin Covey, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. The winner was Long Island reliever Rafael Robles, now 1-3. The loser was Tsuyoshi Tadokoro. Ewan Pethick recorded the save for Long Island, his 2nd of the season.

The most important at-bat for Long Island came in the top of the ninth inning, when designated hitter Enrique Rivera stroked a full count cutter to left-center for a bases-clearing double, putting Long Island up, 6-4.

"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Rivera told the Long Island Gazette. "You win just by scoring more runs."

The Ducks improved to 41-44.
