New York starter Amilcar Laboro pitched effectively against the DeKalb Cornhuskers at Earl Campbell Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a 6-4 win. Nobuatsu Fukumoto earned the save, his 21st, for the Ninjas. The Ninjas improve their record to 47-39 with the win over DeKalb.

Hiroya Shimada was one of the major contributors to the win for New York. The light-hitting right fielder stroked a single to left in the top of the seventh inning. For the day, he went 3-5 with 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.

"Amilcar was throwing strikes, locating well," said New York manager Reda Guillon.
