The Wichita Wolverines reigned over the Phoenix Lights in damp conditions at Howling Park.

Right-hander Wilton Hill mesmerized the Phoenix Lights while leading the Wichita Wolverines to a 5-0 victory. Wichita is 5th in the Ford Frick League Junction Jack Division with a record of 37-42.

Chipping in for Wichita was designated hitter Susumu Miyata. He stroked a 2-run home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, Miyata was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"I liked his command," said Wichita manager Clyde Bowman. "Wilton was throwing strikes."
