Hamada Excels in Rock River Win
|
Rock River beat DeKalb at The Rat Hole, escaping with a 8-7 win. The win in large part was due to second baseman Ichizo Hamada, who earned player of the game honors. He went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice. The winner was Rock River reliever Ramelan Kathirithamby, now 3-2. The loser was José Camacho. With the win, Rock River goes to 50-28, while the Cornhuskers fall to 36-43.
An important at-bat for Rock River came with no one out in the bottom of the first. With the bases loaded, Hamada hit a grand slam, which contributed to the Rats win.
"We got the victory," said Hamada. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
