Despite the rain, the fans at The Hive enjoyed a good ballgame.
The Madison Beehive picked up a win at The Hive, knocking off the Carson City Mustang, 4-3. Starting pitcher Jim Unknown, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Tom Wilson was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 14 of 17 save opportunities.
Unknown, who has sometimes raised the ire of coaches and teammates with his famously lackadaisical work ethic, turned in a spirited effort. The hurler struck out 7 in 7 innings and gave up no earned runs.
Unknown moves to 1-0 on the year with 7 strikeouts.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Unknown.
With the win over Carson City, the Beehive improved to 31-36.
