Spartans Hang 9-2 Loss on Wolverines
|
Sandy Springs first baseman Lemn Onkwani was instrumental in his team's 9-2 win over the Wichita Wolverines. Onkwani, who is tied for 4th in the FFL in doubles with 14, went 3-4 with no runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Spartans. The win was credited to Callum Okel in relief. His record improves to 1-2. Dennis Gregory took the loss. The 6th-place Spartans have won 4 straight.
In the top of the seventh, Odilon Barata stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Wolverines were trailing 8-2, but had the bases loaded. That's when António Espinoza made a terrific pitch and Barata flied out. Gone was the dream of a Wichita comeback.
