Schmidt Shines in Rats Win
|
The Rock River Rats trumped the Cincinnati Snaps, 6-3, at The Studio. Rock River second baseman Chris Schmidt was named player of the game for his performance. He was 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Szeto Chieu got the win, improving to 2-1. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 2. With the victory, the Rats record now stands at 41-21.
Schmidt provided the big break for the Rats in the top of the fifth inning. With a runner on 2nd, he hit a 2-run home run, helping Rock River to get the win.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Schmidt told the Rock River Bulletin.
