López Leads Hawks to Win over Lights
|
Benefiting from Carlos López's productive game, the Boise Hawks downed the Phoenix Lights, 8-6. López went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once for the Hawks. Boise reliever Pedro Salas was credited with the win, to go to 1-2. Jian-cheng Wang took the loss for Phoenix. With the win, Boise has a record of 24-39. Phoenix falls to 37-26.
Had Kadambi Patterjee not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Patterjee hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Hawks.
"Good pitching stops good hitting," said Patterjee. "And vice-versa."
