Harris Excels, But Lights Win
Long Island right fielder Shawn Harris pounded Phoenix Lights pitchers at Long Island Stadium, but it was not enough to keep the Ducks from falling, 12-10. Harris hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 5. José Castro got credit for the win, improving to 4-3. He allowed 5 runs on 9 hits in 6.2 innings. Getting the save was Lorenzo Espinoza, his 2nd.

There were several reasons the Lights beat the Ducks, but one factor was Luis Chávez. In the top of the seventh, the Phoenix shortstop came to bat and hit a run-scoring double. It staked his team to a 5-4 lead.

Long Island manager Bob Reece said he was disappointed with the loss. "Whenever you score that many runs, you expect to win the game."

Today's win puts Phoenix at 34-22, while Long Island falls to 27-28.
