The Long Island Ducks sent the home crowd home smiling from Long Island Stadium.

In a tight contest at Long Island Stadium, the Long Island Ducks edged the Phoenix Lights by the score of 3-2. Long Island right fielder Mark Bowden, who blasted 1 home run, was named the player of the game. The Ducks improved to 27-27.

When he came to bat in the bottom of the tenth, Alan Ward had a chance to end it. Phoenix pitcher Lorenzo Espinoza had other ideas. But with one out, Ward hit a sacrifice fly. The Ducks had the win.

"What a great win for our team," said a jubilant Bob Reece, the Long Island manager.
