The DeKalb Cornhuskers did just enough to secure a 6-5 victory over the Phoenix Lights at Earl Campbell Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Alan Gorringe, who captured player of the game honors. DeKalb reliever Oda Matsumura got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Jorge Ramírez was tagged with the loss. The Cornhuskers' win now puts them at 21-28.

The game came to an abrupt end with one out in the bottom of the 12th. On a pitch from Jorge Ramírez, Egidio Battistella hit a walk-off run-scoring double. It gave DeKalb the 6-5 walk-off win.

"The game of baseball will test you," said Shusaku Fukuda, the DeKalb skipper. "This one tested us."
