Snaps Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Cornhuskers
|
In a low-scoring clash between Cincinnati and DeKalb, pitcher Mito Ishikawa was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned player of the game honors for Cincinnati in the 3-2 win. The winner was Brian Lapointe in relief. His record improves to 3-3. Nate Chapman took the loss. Diviraj Sundaramoorthy finished the game for Cincinnati and earned his 1st save.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Ignacio Vázquez came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing DeKalb pitcher Nate Chapman, he hit a 1-2 fastball for a run-scoring double. It was a game-changer, putting Cincinnati on top, 3-2.
"Nice to get this one," said Vázquez. "Wins have been hard to come by."
With the victory, the Snaps record now stands at 14-29.
