Carson City Beats Topeka, 5-3
|
The Carson City Mustang topped the Topeka Predators, 5-3, with center fielder Tony Durango playing a big role. Durango was 3 for 3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 2 times for the Mustang in the win. Carson City reliever Steve Spotton picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Dave Smith took the loss. Julien Caron picked up the save, his 10th.
Nate Kemp had a big at-bat in the bottom of the fourth inning for the Mustang. With his team down, 3-1, the designated hitter hit a bases-clearing double, to put Carson City ahead.
In comments to the Carson City Chronicle, Durango admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
Carson City is now 23-18.
