Big Day by Hinkamp Ignites Spartans Win
The Sandy Springs Spartans beat the Long Island Ducks, 13-5, at The Coliseum. The win was largely due to the efforts of shortstop Denie Hinkamp, who captured player of the game honors. He was 4 for 5 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 6. Sandy Springs, now 12-25, holds last place in the Ford Frick League Billy the Marlin Division.

Hinkamp brought the fans to their feet in the bottom of the sixth, when the 25-year old second baseman ripped a grand slam home run. The round-tripper put Sandy Springs ahead, 6-2.

"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Sandy Springs Spartans manager Duncan Kelly. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
