The DeKalb Cornhuskers and Topeka Predators brought some excitement to The Field at Richmond.

Starting pitcher Dave Smith pitched well enough to help the Topeka Predators beat the DeKalb Cornhuskers by the score of 8-3. Smith, now 2-3, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 8, walking 4, and allowing 1 earned run.

The fans who came in support of the Predators were pleased with the outcome. It was what they had hoped for when they passed through the turnstiles at The Field at Richmond.

"I liked his command," said Topeka manager Armando Ortíz. "Dave was throwing strikes."

Topeka goes to 21-16, DeKalb to 17-20.
