The Cincinnati Snaps defeated the Wichita Wolverines, 7-3, in Ford Frick League action at The Studio, with Cincinnati shortstop Manuel Gómez named player of the game. Cincinnati now owns a record of 12-22.
In a game filled with surprises, perhaps none was as big as Gómez's contribution. The Cincinnati pinch hitter is a relative newcomer. With one out in the bottom of the eighth, when the Snaps had the bases loaded, Gómez delivered a crucial grand slam home run.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Cincinnati Snaps manager Steve Nolan. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
