New York right-hander Amilcar Laboro helped his team edge Phoenix by the score of 3-2. Laboro kept the opposing lineup in check. Earning his 8th save of the year was Nobuatsu Fukumoto. New York bumps their record to 18-16 with the win.

Making an impact for New York was center fielder Shoichi Nakashima. He drilled a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, Nakashima was 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

Phoenix manager Rod Allen said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
