Cornhuskers Trounce Spartans, 11-3
|
The DeKalb Cornhuskers met little resistance from the Sandy Springs Spartans, beating them 11-3 at The Coliseum. Yasuyuki Konno led the way. He was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs for DeKalb. DeKalb, at 15-18, occupies 5th place in the Ford Frick League Billy the Marlin Division.
With two out in the top of the fifth, Glenn Dempsey had a game-changing hit. The Cornhuskers center fielder slammed a run-scoring single off Sukenobu Sato, making the score 5-3, DeKalb.
"Enjoyed this one," Konno told the DeKalb Herald. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
