Spokane beat Sandy Springs at The Kennel, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Ashley Heath, who earned player of the game honors. The Bulldogs, now 20-10, have been red hot.
Coming to the plate with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning, Spokane center fielder Mark Acres had a chance to be the hero. Facing Sandy Springs pitcher Julián Salazar with the bases loaded, Acres hit a sacrifice fly.
"There's nothing like the buzz of a walk-off win," Acres said.
