The Phoenix Lights topped the Rock River Rats, 3-2, in Ford Frick League action at The Rat Hole. The player of the game was Phoenix pitcher and Charallave, Venezuela native Lorenzo Espinoza. Espinoza picked up the win for Phoenix, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 4-2. Grégoire Maillet closed it out for his 7th save.
Phoenix second baseman Luis Chávez contributed to the cause with a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth. For the game, Chávez went 1-4 with a double.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Espinoza said.
Losses have been few and far between for the Rats so far this season. Their record drops to 19-10.
