The Wichita Wolverines racked up a win at Howling Park, bumping off the Boise Hawks, 7-6. Dennis Gregory, who started for Wichita, pitched effectively for his team. Gregory got the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed 5 hits and walked 0 over 6.1 innings. Gregory allowed 2 earned runs. The Hawks fall to 10-17 and continue to sputter in the early going.
In the bottom of the second, Lester Cracknell hit a 2-run single for Wichita. The 9th hit of the season for the Wichita center fielder put the Wolverines on top, 2-0.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Wichita manager Clyde Bowman.
