Ninjas Squelch Rock River Offense in Shutout Win
|
New York played host to Rock River at the friendly confines of Confucius Field.
New York left-hander Koichi Takahashi was sensational in shutting out the Rock River Rats, 4-0. In 5 innings, Takahashi surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 3. He allowed no runs. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Tuan Mai.
Hiroya Shimada contributed a productive at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With the bases loaded, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run. It was one at-bat that helped New York get the win.
"Nervous? No," said Takahashi. "It was my time to shine."
The win leaves New York with a record of 15-10.
