3-2 Wolverines Win over Spartans Evens Season Record
|
Howling Park was the site of a tense game between the Sandy Springs Spartans and Wichita Wolverines.
In a low-scoring clash between Wichita and Sandy Springs, pitcher Shigeki Sasaki was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned player of the game honors for Wichita in the 3-2 win. Freek Janszen earned the save for Wichita, his 7th of the year.
The Wolverines got a big boost from pinch hitter Tsuneari Tanaka who had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning off Spartans hurler Theodore Clement. It was his 1st RBI of the season and put Wichita on top, 3-2.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Tanaka.
Sandy Springs, at 7-17, is off to a poor start in 2028.
